The cashew industry with, because ... the beetle burned
On April 8.4, information source from Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas) said that Pham Vin Cong, Chairman of Vinacas, has just sent a document to the Plant Protection Department and the Region II Plant Quarantine Department, around the worries of Vietnamese cashew industry. Male, before the recent regulations on quarantine the hard-biting beetle (scientific name Trogoderma SP).
Recently, the plant quarantine agency has requested to inspect and sample all imported raw cashew shipments originating from Africa at the port, instead of allowing the consignment of enterprises (DN) as before. here.
According to businesses, the new regulations reveal many shortcomings such as: enterprises must increase the time and cost for receiving goods, and generate a lot of expenses to serve the inspection of goods in the port. In addition, enterprises must arrange a lot of manpower to supervise at ports, causing traffic congestion at ports, reducing competitiveness ...
"In the context of the whole industry facing many difficulties in 2019, the implementation of the above regulation has caused obstacles and losses for raw cashew processing and importing enterprises" - the document of Vinacas said.

Therefore, Vinacas recommends re-applying the sampling process as applied to previously imported raw cashew nuts. Ie allow businesses to be tested, sampled at the warehouse of enterprises, in the form of quick inspection, applicable to cashew nuts.
Meanwhile, according to Mr. Hoang Trung - Director of Plant Protection Department: From 2013 up to now, the plant quarantine agency has repeatedly discovered that shipments imported from Africa are infected with plant quarantine objects. Vietnam is a burning beetle (Trogoderma SP).
“This is a dangerous kind of beetle. All countries have put this kind of worm into the quarantine list and strictly controlled. Due to the fact that there are still lots of imported goods and burning beetles, it is imperative to check the goods at ports, before returning to warehouses. Besides, the cost to handle this kind of beetle is huge. In order to get this kind of one into Vietnam, the future of Vietnam's exports will be difficult. We must ensure national interests, domestic production safety is the most important, so we cannot do otherwise "- Mr. Trung said.

However, Vinacas still believes that the new regulation of quarantining raw cashew at ports will cause congestion and accumulate imported raw cashew at the port, generating a lot of costs for enterprises. In the context of the crop of 2019 facing many difficulties, quarantine at ports will make businesses more difficult ...
According to Vinacas, in the first three months of 2019, the number of African raw cashew nut crops in 2019 and the end of 2018, are imported by enterprises from Tanzania, there has not been any shipment to Vietnam. It is expected that about 3.8 million tons of raw cashew in Africa will be imported by enterprises in the crop this year.
